Dodge Overview:
Hybrid technology aside, the Dodge Challenger is what has people around the country salivating. After last year’s limited run, the Challenger SRT8 adds two more trim levels for 2009: SE and R/T. Seen as a direct threat to the Ford Mustang, the muscular Challenger gets up to 425-horsepower and utilizes a modern-retro look making the Challenger just as menacing on the outside as it is under the hood. The five-seat, four-door Caliber hatchback features a high performance turbocharged engine, but dropped its all-wheel drive option. The Caliber competes with the Saturn Astra, Toyota Matrix and VW Rabbit. The full-size Charger sedan has a reengineered 5.7-liter Hemi engine designed to increase fuel economy and power. The Avenger midsize sedan succeeds the Stratus with increased, distinctive styling, copious amounts of space (100 cubic feet of cabin volume) and a flexible V-6 engine. The Viper SRT10 sports car boasts 600-horsepower from its powerful V-10 engine and is available in coupe and convertible versions. The all-new Journey is the brand’s first mid-size crossover SUV, blending the practicality of a minivan with the capability of a sports utility vehicle and the overall efficiency of a passenger car. After going through a complete redesign last year, the Grand Caravan gains improved ride, handling and braking. The Grand Caravan uses its Stow’n Go second-row seating to maximize passenger and cargo room. The Nitro SUV features a Load ‘N Go sliding cargo floor and retuned brakes and suspension for better handling. The full-size pickup truck class sees a redesigned Ram 1500, with aerodynamic styling and a bold, unique grille. Improved comfort, storage innovation with the RamBox and a 5.7-liter, 380-horsepower Hemi V-8 are sure to entice truck fans everywhere. The Power Wagon version of the Ram 2500 and 3500 handles demanding off-road tasks. The Dakota midsize pickup truck features a 4.7-liter V-8 engine and discontinued the SLT and Sport trims. The full-size Sprinter van and wagon seat up to 12 passengers and comes with an emergency exit window on its 2500 and 3500 series. The Sprinter will no longer operate on gasoline, offering only diesel engines. The Magnum wagon was discontinued for 2009. |
