Ford Overview:

After coming off of a redesign in 2008, Ford’s bread and butter compact sedan/coupe Focus gets a minor facelift for a sportier feel and a new SEL trim to go along with an excellent 24 MPG in the city and 33-35 MPG on the highway.  The midsize Fusion sedan is one notch above the Focus when it comes to size.  Ford’s full-size sedan, the Taurus, which was resurrected last year, comes with a new standard SOS-Post Crash Alert System.

Get up to 315-horsepower in Ford’s most popular speed demon—the Mustang.  The Mustang (available as a coupe and convertible) gets a glass roof option on the V-6 and GT.  Aside from the cobra design on the Shelby GT500, expect to travel faster than the speed of sound with the supercharged 5.4-liter, 500-horsepower V-8 beast.

As the crossover SUV craze reaches mammoth proportions, the midsize Edge crossover SUV adds a few standard safety features and a new Sport trim.  The larger, 7-passenger Taurus X crossover wagon has 146 cubic feet of passenger space and also receives several new safety features.

SUV buyers will continue to find several models to choose from, including the compact Escape, the mid-size Explorer and Sport Trac, and the full-size Expedition.

Hybrid buyers still have but one model to choose from – the fuel-efficient Ford Escape Hybrid.  The Escape Hybrid has the best fuel economy of any SUV with 29-34 MPG in the city and 27-31 on the highway.

Truck lovers will probably keep the full-size F-150 pickup in the sales chart leader position, while others will be able to take their choice of multiple versions of the F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty and the new F-450Super Duty models. The inexpensive Ford Ranger compact pickup continues to please city dwellers with limited cargo hauling duties.

For small business owners or families with major people or cargo hauling duties, the popular E-150, E-250 and E-350 full-size vans will do the job nicely.
