Although Saturn is otherworldly, it is Earth conscious when it comes to the 2008 Saturn VUE Green Line Hybrid.  The VUE gives SUV lovers the space, ruggedness and outdoor capability with amazing fuel economy and lower emissions.

Not only does the VUE Green Line Hybrid get the best highway MPG for SUV’s at 25 city/32 highway, but it has better fuel economy than the Honda CRV, Accord, Toyota RAV4, and Toyota Camry.  Not too shabby, especially considering that a fully-loaded VUE Green Line Hybrid sells for less than $30,000.

The 2.4-liter, 172-horsepower DOHC 4 cylinder engine, pauses when stopped, boosts power during acceleration and charges the battery when you decelerate. The VUE Green Line Hybrid doesn’t feature break-neck acceleration or speed—expect to go 0 to 60 in just over seven seconds. That’s not necessarily a bad thing—remember, it is a SUV.  That being said, the VUE can tow up to 1,500 pounds.

Standard features include, auxiliary audio input, 17-inch alloy wheels, 4-wheel disc anti-lock brakes, Driver and front passenger dual stage front and side-impact airbags, front and rear side curtain airbags, and StabiliTrak stability control.  Being friendly to the environment also comes standard.  The VUE Green Line Hybrid has the second best EPA air pollution score (7) and leaves the second lowest EPA carbon footprint among hybrid SUV’s with 6.6 tons of carbon per year.

Not only is the VUE Green Line Hybrid agreeable with your pocket books, but the government seems to like it too.  Uncle Sam is offering a $1,550 tax credit that goes straight to your tax return.

That tax credit might make it easier to afford some of the available options.  Highlights include a power driver’s seat, heated leather upholstery, and moonroof.  A built-in navigation system is not included, but turn-by-turn guidance is provided by OnStar’s Directions and Connections service, which is free for 2 months and $9.95 per month afterward.

For SUV connoisseurs who are tired of getting gouged at the pump and would like to be more eco-friendly, the 2008 Saturn VUE Green Line Hybrid is here.  It’s clean, efficient and affordable.
